In this article we will actually cover women´s and men´s wide basketball shoes. We´ll discuss what you can do to get the right kind of shoes if you realize you need wide basketball shoes.

In general women´s and men´s wide basketball shoes have more volume in the upper and use the same midsole and outsole as a regular width shoe.
If your feet are extra wide, the shoes should have an even more volume in the upper forefoot area and use an even wider midsole and outsole.

Narrow shoes have less volume in the upper and use the same midsole and outsole as a regular width shoe.

How do you know if your shoes are too wide or too narrow?

If the shoes you wear feel too narrow at the heel or toebox, you may consider choosing wide basketball shoes. If the shoes feel too wide or they slip at the heel, you may consider choosing a shoe with a narrower fit.

It´s a good idea to measure the width of your foot prior to selecting the right type of women´s or men´s wide shoes or narrow shoes for that matter. Here is how to do it...

  • Trace each foot on a sheet of paper.
  • Measure the width of your foot, starting at the widest point of the forefoot, which will usually be at the ball of your foot. Take a note of the measurement in centimeters.
  • Find your shoe size in the applicable chart below and find your foot width measurement to determine if you are a B (Narrow), D (Regular), 2E (Wide), 4E (Extra Wide).
